When the house was
built in the mid 1800's, this room was the Parlour Room. A Parlour
Room was used only for special occasions and for very
special people. We felt it would be fitting to
keep the name. The focal point of this
room is the mantle and fireplace. The mantle is
oak with a beveled mirror and the fireplace
has original ceramic tiles. This room is situated on the
eastern side of the house enabling one to delight in the
wonderful sun rises that can turn a blue sky to pink in the early
morning light. Enjoy the verandah that surrounds the room on the
south and east sides. The cream and burgundy wallpaper and wide
matching border are complimented by the floor to ceiling country
curtains.
A restful night's sleep can be enjoyed in the queen bed that has
matching night tables and dresser. Check out the wood inlay table
that Arno designed and made. The intricate design took many hours to
plan and complete. It is an ideal place to sit and write letters,
play a game of cards or enjoy a glass of wine. The spinning
wheel reminds us of yesteryear, when a sweater was truly "made from
scratch". This room is 12'x20' and is on the main floor which
makes it ideal for people who do not
want to climb stairs. The new ensuite
bathroom ensures privacy. Also included in the Parlour Room is
a TV/VCR.
